Marriage Counseling

If you are interested in marriage counseling to support keeping your marriage strong and alive, good for you!  When our car is having difficulty, we take it to a shop.  When our body aches, we take it to a doctor.  But when we have marital issues, we often tend to suffer on, alone or in silence.

If there is an issue in your marriage that you want to work on or resolve, marriage counseling can be a great way to get support to do so.  I have two suggestions for you about marriage counseling.  First, find a good local counselor.  Your friends may know one, or you can do a google search and come up with lots of choices.  Visit one or two, see if they feel right, then dive in.

If you would like specific support around using the tools described in the book Train Your Mate or explained in this website, you can contact me for a phone session.  You can do this alone or as a couple, if your mate wishes to work on the issue also.  I am not a licensed therapist, I am a coach.  I work with individuals and couples on several different areas of relationship skills:

1.  How much play and pleasure are you having in your relationship.  More is generally better!

2.  How do you deal with conflict in your relationship?  Conflict happens, how you two deal with it can heal damage or create more damage and distance.

3.  Communication and Intimacy.  Communication doesn't resolve everything in a relationship, but it makes a big difference.  Do you both know how to make intimate requests to get what you need?

If you would like marriage counseling in any or all of those three general areas, you can contact me at john@emotionalskills.com and we can arrange a phone session.   Just one hour on any of these three areas can often make a world of difference!
